Scanning in color reference models


A color reference model needs to be created for each character that is going to be used in a scene.

The first stage in producing a color reference model is to scan in a drawing of the character that is to be used to create the color reference model. (For more information on color reference model, refer to About palettes.)

The procedure for scanning in a drawing that's going to be used to create a color reference model is basically the same procedure that you would use for scanning line drawings, with a few small differences:

  1. Choose File > New > Model.
  1. Use the scanner in the normal way, as described at the start of this chapter, to scan in the drawing you wish to use as the Color Reference Model.
  1. After you have scanned in the drawing, the ScanLevel Save dialog box will automatically be displayed.
  1. Type in a suitable name. The scanned drawing will be saved as a Color Reference Model.

Using a drawing you've already scanned

If you want to create a color reference model using drawing that you've already scanned, use the Ink&Paint application. See Creating a color model from an existing level,
